For many within the violin-making community, Sam's contributions extend far beyond his own workbench. A longtime participant and supporter of the Violin Society of America, he has shared his knowledge through lectures, demonstrations, publications, and mentorship while helping advance the understanding of instrument acoustics and performance. Generations of makers have benefited from his willingness to explore new ideas, openly discuss his methods, and encourage excellence throughout the profession. His unique ability to bridge traditional craftsmanship with modern scientific inquiry has made him one of the most respected voices in contemporary violin making.

The VSA is honored to have Sam Zygmuntowicz serving in this important role and looks forward to benefiting from his experience, leadership, and insight during the 2026 International Violin Making Competition.
